What is Tyrosine?
Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid, which means that in most conditions, your body can produce it. It is also found in dietary sources such as chicken, fish, soy, almonds, avocados, pumpkin seeds and sesame seeds.  Your body is able to make Tyrosine from the amino acid phenylalanine.

Tyrosine is produced by the body and is then used in the formation of neurotransmitters in the brain such as epinephrine and dopamine. These neurotransmitters and chemicals play very important roles in health and wellness. They are the chemicals which communicate information through the body. They control bodily functions such as heart beat, breathing and digesting of food and have important functions with mood and emotions.

Why do I need Tyrosine?
Some people cannot process phenyalanine, so as a result cannot make tyrosine. In these individuals adequate dietary intake or supplementation is essential.

Adequate tyrosine is required for many chemicals in the body which effect many functions, and without the basic ingredients, many functions are impaired.

How do I take Tyrosine?

Tyrosine is available in a capsule. If you want to use Tyrosine as a therapeutic agent, it is best to take it on an empty stomach with a carbohydrate snack such as a piece of fruit. Proteins which are broken down into amino acids compete for absorption with each other, so taking it away from protein allows your body to utilise more Tyrosine. Dosage is around 500mg
