Hay Fever
Ease the sneeze this spring
Spring has sprung and so has the pollen count. If you are allergic, this time of year can mean fits of sneezing just for starters.
Experts now estimate that almost 40% of the population suffers from some sort of allergy . Many allergy sufferers, including those who fall victim to hayfever are often driven to distraction by runny noses, itchy eyes and tickly throats when the pollen count rises.
The wind is very important in determining the amount of pollen in the air. Plants release pollen twice a day, early in the morning and late in the afternoon, but the wind can mix pollen back into the air at almost any time.
Pollen is not the only thing that can set you off on a sneezing burst. Other allergens, such dust mites, can be very debilitating for acute sufferers at this time of the year.
Cassandra Barns, nutritionist at The Nutri Centre - Europe’s leading natural medicines dispensary says, “Allergies like hayfever can occur when our immune systems overreact to something harmless in our environment.
