In the summer our health concerns are often very different from the other seasons. Our attentions may turn to:
● Protecting our skin in the sun. At the Nutri Centre we have a wide range of natural sun protection and 'after-sun' creams and lotions that are free from some of the chemicals found in many high-street brands. You can also find supplements designed to ...Read more help maintain the health of your skin in the sun, containing ingredients such as astaxanthin and beta-carotene (these should not be used in place of a sun protection cream, however).
● Preventing insect bites. Choose a good natural insect repellent spray. It may also be helpful to take vitamin B1, or a B vitamin complex containing higher B1: for more advice on this, call our nutritionists on 020 7436 5122.
● Preparing for travelling or summer holidays. Apart from the concerns above, you may also want to think about preventing traveller's diarrhoea – take with you a good probiotic designed for travelling. A multivitamin and mineral can help keep your energy up or 'plug the gaps' if you don't have access to nutritious food.
● Preventing or dealing with hayfever symptoms. Some popular ingredients that may be helpful include quercetin, bromelain, vitamin C, nettle (in supplements or tea), the herbs Eyebright, Luffa and many others.
