Starflower/borage oil - mixture of mainly mono- and poly-unsaturated oils, of which, one of the richest known sources of GLA. (Approximately 50 % more than an equivalent dose of evening primrose oil). Starflower oil (a plant for the skin).

The oil extracted from the seeds by cold pressing is extremely valuable due to its rich source of two polyunsaturated Essential Fatty Acids, Gamma Linolenic Acid (G.L.A.) and Linoleic Acid.
Taken in vegetable form, Starflower fights against the ageing process of the skin and prevent the formation of wrinkles.
It also improves brittle nails and hair. It also has a balancing effect on hormones and as such it is a useful product to take to combat the symptoms of the menopause.

Starflower Oil is rich in the fatty acid Gamma Linolenic Acid (GLA), which is an important intermediary in the metabolic conversion of Linolenic Acid into Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1). PGE1 is one of many prostaglandins which are interconvertible, and which modulate the action of many hormones.
