Bars & flapjacks

The busy lifestyles we lead coupled with always being on the move, do not allow much time to occasionally prepare fresh snacks such as crudités, fruits or a handful of nuts. In an ideal world, we would make all our snacks from scratch! Bars and flapjacks can be handy to keep in our bags, being compact, dry and often quite filling. Flapjacks often consist of a source of wholegrain such as oats along with fruit, nuts, spices and a binding component such as honey, golden syrup or other form of sugar. Bars can also have a form of protein powder that has been added for those who wish to top up their amounts, be it for weight loss, energy release, or muscle building and repair. Whey is often the protein of choice, due to its higher amino acid content, and easier absorption if well tolerated. This can help to provide a higher ratio of protein (whey) to other macronutrients. In contrast to flapjacks, bars can simply contain a combination of dried fruit, nuts and superfoods to provide you a healthy option. Components do really vary, and you now have such a wide choice to select from depending on your needs and preferences.
